It’s always a struggle to be compact in my art bag packing. I always take a few things to work (today water color pencils) for quick breaks. But my more intentional excisions require more materials. I use a Kavu sling bag and have to make choices! By the way , I’ve never had a coffee shop bother me about spreading out at a table. Usually they think it’s “cool” that I’m in there arting! This was so fun! Thank you!
LOVED watching this, I really enjoy the videos you are posting here, such a nice treat! I think unconsciously I also organize my pencils similarly haha, excited to see the sketches and more about your drawing date. I’ve been trying to go drawing at cafés on my own but sometimes it’s hard not to feel awkward. Looking forward to the new pencil rolls, hopefully I can get one this time 💕
I also feel awkward and am always glad when my friend arrives but then there's the extra challenge of talking and sketching - it's kind of exhausting. we're practicing though!
Sorry that it was a hard sketch date but I sure hope you and your friend stick with it because it is so fun seeing what you create. Also love how you come back with a short little follow up on the sketch date and leave us hanging for the next update, :)
Thanks again for taking the time to do these little videos, they are so lovely and I hope more relaxing for you as well.
Thanks Sandi for taking us along for the ride as you sketch and paint your way through your areas coffee shops. I'm glad no one is hassling you about your supplies. I think having an artist in the house would make things rather interesting for the patrons. Love the design of your mom's art roll up case. Great for storage!
Loved this! I can’t imagine that they’re going to say anything to you guys. It would be different if you were there at the same coffee shop every single day and spending hours taking up space in a busy store.... they might get a little irritated that you’re taking up Customer space every single day. But if you’re just going once a week and you’re buying drink or food, I honestly can’t imagine that they would care. People go in there and set up office with their laptops and zoom calls and stay for hours. Lol
That’s a good selection ! I always have the feeling I pack too much, so when I’m in a coffee shop I don’t have an idea what to pick to draw with so I don’t draw at all :/
True ! Recently I have a cheap mechanical pencil in one of my side pockets of my Kanken bag. Easy to take my paper of sketchbook out of my bag & the pencil is always in reach. So now I love sketching while I’m in the bus/train. My
Mind always thinks ‘ you go to a place tp draw something, so you need every art supply you own’.
Really enjoying Substack- such a good choice. It’s a nice addition. Your coffee shop adventures look fantastic. I’m just about to get out into the real world myself. Very exciting 🤩

I"m considering even just taking one pencil... I mean, I doubt that will happen, but I have considered it

I’m loving this little “in between” space you’re creating here! You’re a true inspiration 🤗💖✨
