I’m loving the lake/ocean scene with the 2 figures, and especially that adorable little house in the distance

Your sketchbooks are so inspiring, Sandi! Thank you as always, for sharing. Your 'fearless' approach to laying down colour, and your expressive mark making is a joy to see.

“I just desperately needed to use a coloured pencil” is maybe one of the most relatable phrases I’ve ever heard

Fun recap. Love all the sketch book work!!! You must be going like crazy behind the curtain. Seems like so many new projects are in the works. I painted one canvas over the last couple weeks and felt like I was obsessed. I did a couple little sketchbook things but nothing like the joyous explosion of creative outlay you produce along with your million other things... class prep, vacation with some of my favorite sketchbook/paintings , the maybe show in NY...fingers crossed 🤞 I await the coming releases with excitement. Go go gadget Sandi the wonderkin

yes, lots going on for sure! I did not get into the NY show -no surprise though - I never get accepted into anything but that's ok! it was kind of a relief because I already have too much on my plate

Fun stuff. Be careful with the inktense. They are not lightfast. Must have heard that from

Roz Stendahl. She hs a great blog where she reviews different products. Always been leery of them over all the years I have been doing sketchbooks. 17 yrs now. Not counting college. That would make another four years of sketchbook keeping.

Derwent says they're lightfast and they're also just going into my sketchbook and won't see much light so I feel good with them

Thats new. So glad to hear. Thing ant nonlightfast colors they fade with NO light at all. Even in your sketchbook or on a painting stored in a dark place like a closet. Got a list of the watercolors that do in one of my books. Alot of the original reds like alizarin and carmine used to but mostly now replaced. Thank goodness. Thks for the info.

Just found this on the Derwent inktense FAQ page. All of them are not lightfast.

Wouldn't it be helpful if they listed which ones were not?! I guess the only way to know is to test them in a bright sunny window.

I have heard stories of those who used them in their sketchbooks only to open them sometimes in only five months and the color has changed dramatically.

https://www.derwentart.com/en-gb/c/about/innovation/faqs/derwent-inktense-faqs

Are the Derwent Inktense pencils lightfast?

87% of the range is lightfast, however once water is added, lightfastness ratings will be different depending on how much each colour is diluted. If you are looking to keep your Inktense art for as long as possible, we advise you keep your artwork out of direct sunlight.

Why do the Derwent Inktense Blocks and Derwent Inktense Pencils have different lightfast ratings?

The blocks and pencils are made using different binders and wax blends, which will affect the lightfastness rating for each colour.

Hi Sandi I just wanted to say that at 2.31mins your work took my breath away . I absolutely love your watercolour /gouache work as it is so loose and I love your landscapes and your figurative work so having them all in one painting was just brilliant. Again at 434 and 654 with landscape and figures are brilliant. Also you "mark making" page is amazing. (347) , it seems to reflect a freeing process and this may sound odd but seems to allow your generous spirit to shine through.... perhaps because there is no pressure to create a portait/landscape/ still life. Just love seeing you push through and play with these sketches. Thank you for sharing. PS Ali Express sells these brushes that you are using for next to nothing. I can send a link if you are interested.
