Your owl story gave me a chuckle. I’ve been convinced for years that I have an owl in my neighborhood (not unreasonable considering my proximity to a park full of old growth trees) hooting frequently. Much to my disappointment I’ve been told the “hooting” I’m hearing is in fact doves “cooing.” Even now when I hear it, I want it to be an owl.
I am looking forward to seeing more of the marina. I love your sketches...thank you for the impromptu sketchbook tours. Horses are my longtime favorite animal and I’ve been doing some abstracts of them. Very enjoyable.
I just enjoy seeing all your sketches 🧡 loved the quick horses sketches. The owl story and “two bookmarks woooo” made me laugh 😂 Now that the weather is getting a bit sunnier I’ve been thinking about painting again and these videos are so inspiring ! Thanks for sharing 🦉
Loved this video! Your forests are absolutely stunning. I was cracking up at the owl story. I see things in nature that aren’t really there all the time (I blame my bad eyesight)! It must just be the creative artist mind seeing these things! 😂
Great lot of art over the weekend … love the forest. And the marina, the colours!!! Looking forward to seeing more of those.
I laughed at your story of the owl. When we lived on the farm there was an owl lived in one of the big trees down the front. Only saw him at night time occasionally, but the sound💕. Played along with the Emma Carlisle horse session too (replay only as I haven’t worked out the zoom or time difference yet)😣. Thanks for introducing me to her and Sarah’s patreon. Fun😊.
I use the square Leuchtturm sketchbook as well, I really adore the size, but I find sometimes that the white paper is too stark!! I wish they made another with ivory paper so I could have the option!
All of these sketches are wonderful! I’m amazed at how well you did on the horses. It was so fun I watching Sarah and Emma doing this. They really are inspiring.
Holy 🐄 you get a ton done over the weekend! I’m thrilled to get one or two paintings done ! I’m really loving your limb in the water , and Forest camping works , also the Marina is a def hot spot . I’m partial to all your boat’s and water paintings . As usual thank you for the inspiration. This supplemental forum is fabulous!
Thank you Sandi, I always love seeing the freedom you use with all your supplies! I have the paint cup and lid set up you have for acrylics, and I’m wondering if I were to invest in some basic paint markers, which are your top 8??? 😊🌺🌺🌺😊
Such interesting timing - I just started using the Leuchttrum sketchbook and also am on the fence about it. I don't like how absorbent the paper is, but it does take thick layer of gouache nicely. It doesn't do so well with water materials (watercolor or even watercolor pencils, or light washes of gouache). I'm still not sure. I do like it for colored pencils though, so I might just stick to that for this particular sketchbook. See - all over the map with this one! 🤪♥️
I have yet to see a Not-owl, but when the sun shines just right on the trees and rocky mountain outcroppings around our house, I've seen bears, a cat in a tree, a person in the woods, a lion and even an alligator. Of course they never move, they are so busy staring at us.
I love all your sketches, but especially the painterly marks (lovely clouds and trees) on your paintings. Really nice. Your sketching so inspired me that today I spent hours sitting outside, sketching (with the few Inktense pencils I own--gotta get more colors) something I have NEVER done before. Thank you so much for sharing your work, your stories and your amazing artist's life.
(Also really loving the Sneaky Art podcast you did).
I have this on mute because I’m at work right now. Hopefully no one catches me saying “wow!” Lol
Can’t wait to go home and re-watch w/ sound
this cracked me up! don't get busted!
Ha! I just flipped my folder over cel cuz someone was coming
Wonderful Sandi! Thank you!

I totally agree - not loving the white paper!
So many great pieces. Loved the one on board and the sketches of the horses where they overlap each other. Great video.
thank you so much Sandra!
Oh I love those trees. So much variety and color in them!
thank you Shannon!

I agree - I feel like its drinking up my watercolor markers but when I use other things on it it's nice
