Thanks Sandi, I really appreciated your taking the time to answer questions here that might need a bit more explanation from you in a comment on you tube or wherever.
I have joined in with a group of other artists friends in something similar for a few years as well. Most of us are a part of an online painting membership. We meet on zoom as well at a scheduled time late Saturday afternoon my time, but the zoom host of our "paint along" is joining us on a Sunday early morning her time. We have been on a break for about 2 months but will be beginning again soon. Artist friends drop in and out of the zooms and some times there are 3 of us other times there are maybe 12 of us or more. Typically on most weeks it's about 5 or 6. We chat and paint, take time to share what we are working on etc. The artists are from the US, Canada, Germany, England, Greece, Australia, New Zealand - when I just joined in about 4 years ago I was just beginning my art journey, and mostly just listened and 'learned' from everyone. I was just amazed to be creating with such a diverse group of artists from all over the world. I have grown close to many of the individuals and love how painting originally connected us and how our friendships grew from that. I think for me personally it also made me a bit braver in my creating to share what I am doing in a safe group of individuals and that has helped me become more courageous in sharing my art beyond those zoom walls.
Hey Sandi, I like these pop-in moments from you with tidbits of your day with what helps you and in turn can help us. I'm not currently doing any type of art with others but hope to in the future. I'm enjoying your online classes for now and developing my own art practice and style. I talk about you to my family like we know each other when I say "I'm doing art lessons with Sandi" or "here's what I painted today with Sandi". (they think I have an imaginary friend :) I know it takes a lot of time to produce all of the content that you share but know that it's so appreciated. Keep doing it as long as you can!
Thanks, Sandi! I’m definitely not used to thinking about meeting via zoom. This has helped me to visualize how it could work and really fill a need to not feel alone in my art practice. I also like how you talked about how practical it can be, even wearing pjs if necessary!
I love these pop in videos too. I tried Emma Carlisles patron for a while, but as a full time working girl, the time zone was a killer. I'm hoping to eventually find a group. I would definitely be supportive of a Patreon if you ever started one. Hugs.
I love that this space can be used for short videos or posts answering questions. I think that's a great idea! It seems like it can be more casual too than the every other week video posting on YouTube, both in its content and in how regularly you post them. They can just happen whenever!
I love this site and getting email bits with videos. Such a fun idea to meet up to paint together. My daughter and share a studio together and I just like having someone with me making their things while I am too. I’ve had a hard time getting back into it after such a long holiday break, being unable to sneak away. Thanks for the fun video share with us. 💗🌻
My friend and I were just talking abt setting up a zoom get together to do some art/vision boards for 2025 goals/intentions. I also just watched an artist recently on YT that "doodled" her goals/intentions for the year. Thought that was such a cute idea instead of just writing them out. :) Thanks again for the video on this platform! I closed my IG acct, so I miss seeing your reels and short videos. p.s. I'm the one that went to London last year and saw your artwork at the exhibition! :):):) We are actually going to London again this March.....will you have any art there again? Probably not....but here's to hoping!
I love the answering questions videos, and I appreciate you taking the time to film them. I would LOVE to Zoom and paint with you. Any considerations of sessions? XOXO
I love the zoom art club info. Great idea to answer questions in this way!! You have inspired me for soooo long Sandi and I'm always at the edge of my seat waiting for more tidbits from you. Thanks for all you do for your community and inspiring us to get off our proverbial seats to get out there and do our own thing!
Sandi, what are you thoughts about having a Patreon of your own or a Painting Club on Substack? For some reason my impression is that it's not something you are interested in at this point in time but just interested in your thoughts? Thanks :) (p.s. I would sign up in a heart beat)
What timing for me. My girlfriends far away want to zoom paint with me. I have to figure out how to set it up. I don’t have any real equipment so I will see. I love you sharing your time. Thanks bunches
Hi Sandy, I also belong to an art group, through zoom. There are 4 of us in the group and normally at least 3 of us meet for about 2 hours Friday mornings. 3 of us live in the same county in Nova Scotia, Canada and one lady is from Maine, USA.
Initially we share our Art news and then if we have an art intention for the morning we share that, often inspiring each other.
After about an hour of painting we show our work and share feedback.
I enjoy having this time set aside. I usually work with watercolour, often combined with other mixed media.
There is no pressure, however as a bonus I have created some favourites during these sessions.

so neat to hear! and I can totally see how that kind of group would help with confidence to share outside of that group

awe - thanks so much!
I love the idea of you answering questions like this. Fabulous! I don't have a question for you now, but the concept is brilliant.

I love this idea! My brain is already scheming up a plan to do something like this with a few friends 🤔
The short form Q&A videos are so helpful, I hope you continue to do them, as you are able to of course!
