I am praying for you and your friends and neighbors. What a horrific thing to have to live through. But the hope and joy the Lord brings as He walks us through the dark into His Kingdom of light and peace! Thank you for sharing your week and your work. It is great to see how you used your creativity to "work through" all your feelings in the wake of the incident.

Thinking of you Sandi as you and all affected by this tragedy, continue to grieve. We are feeling it with you all as my husband is a PCA pastor and we have a preschool. We went to Andrew Peterson's concert here in Greensboro on Friday which as a good way to process this terrible event. Thank you for your vulnerability in sharing your life and art with us!

Hi Sandi, I'm not sure how I came upon your Substack just in the last week or two, but when your post come into my inbox, I realized we both live in Nashville. I did not make any art last week during the first aftermath of the shooting, but I love the painting you did with the owl and birds. And it makes me want to go back and process a bit with art this week. Do you use liquid acrylics or posca markers? Other? Love your work.

small world for sure! I used mostly acrylics but I also threw other materials at it as I usually do

Thank you for sharing your art process through this. I hope that you and your community will continue to heal and process this into a more joyful remembrance of the lives of those passed. My childhood community went through one of these unthinkable tragedies as well and it took me a long time to process. But I have years on now and much more hope that Christ is comforting us even in the worst times. My best to you and Grady and your church family.

Thank you, Sandi. And you as well. Art is such a great way way to heal and I believe in a bright future past our grief. I appreciate you being out there though we may never meet. You are truly a beautiful human being.

It's hard to try and make sense and process why these these inhumane acts keep happening. Sandi, you have tapped into art as therapy for our souls when they hurt. Your painting Is beautiful and at the same time raw with emotion. I have never been able to do art during grief as I am just a wobbly mess. I've just looked into neurographic art as a creative avenue when you just need to let your mind unload. Prayers to all those who continue grieving.

Must be hard being right where that happened! I don't live near there but knowing people in TN and watching a YouTuber in Nashville some how makes it feel more personal. Also the fact that it was a Christian school. So sad. But 'God is near to the broken hearted' (Psalm 34:18)

Sandi, sat and wept while I watched. What an astounding moment of worship to our God in painting through the grief of this tragedy. One day there will be no more suffering and yet even now He draws near in the midst of sin and pain. I am thankful beyond words to see another Christian painter using their abilities to glorify Jesus. Thank you for sharing even your mourning. ❤

Thank you for sharing your powerful owl piece. What a comfort to know that we will have eternity with all things set right and the serpent put in his place. I'm so sorry about all that you and your community have been through. I pray that God will bring comfort and the hope you spoke about. You are a light and I thank you for that.
