You know how they say pupils dilate when watching “illicit material”? I think mine did the same seeing all the luscious pencils. Art porn.

On a more serious note, it’s lovely to have options but, yes, it’s overwhelming too. One of my spiritual disciplines this year is practicing “enough” (she says as she scans Blicks…) Thanks for sharing!

This was very helpful, Sandi. It is indeed tiring to categorize so many hues. I find that II always make some changes along the way - should this be in the violets, or the grays? Is this really a brown, or should it be with the reds, and on and on. In the end, just do the work and don't sweat it. Thanks for making the effort - it helps.

I love purples for shadows in night scenes. And of course you need all the greens! Glad I am not the only one obsessed with color pencils!

It's fun to watch you do this! Biggest set ever! What will you do with the ones you don't love?

I also get overwhelmed with all my color pencils and pens, when I try to decide my favorites and my color palette. I think it's a difficult task and therefore I think it is really interesting to see 👀 how your process is and which result you end up with in the next video 😍🎨🌟👌🥰

This video reminds me of what happens when I think I'm going to pair down my working set of pencils and double it instead. For colors like the browns or greens with many in a similar hue and value, it would be interesting to arbitrarily put a few in your working pencil set. Set the others aside for now. When you're working fast on location, I wonder if you will even miss them. That said, sometimes you need the same color from more than one brand because one works better than another when you are doing mixed media layers.

It is so helpful and inspiring to hear your thoughts as you try different materials, Sandi. I also find it difficult to choose between brands and colors, but the process is sure a lot of fun!!!

Keep ALL the greens! Lol, I do! I just can't help saying no to almost any green! I feel ya on the decision overload, my plein air kit weighs a ton because I can never decide which colors to take out with me so I take way too many!

I am not sure that I have seen anyone else post videos showing their art materials editing process like you do. I find it helpful.

Thanks Sandi, this was just what i needed. In depth pencil crayon choosing therapy. Your colour enthusiasm makes me feel normal. No need to explain. Love it.

Decision fatigue is my issue today too! I have to pack up the room my art supplies are stored in and be put into storage for a few months (or maybe up to a year 😬) and I’m trying to decide what essential supplies I should keep with me. My ‘minimal’ supplies pile keeps growing and growing. Surely I need 12 green pencils?!? 😂
