Super helpful, thank you for this!! I'm new to acrylics (from watercolor), and finding brushes is a bit like stumbling in the dark. :-)

thank you Sandi!

This was really insightful. My favorite brushes are long handled #10 or #12 flat or bright. Always interesting to see what others like. I think Bonn brushes are in my future : )

Sandi, I’ve been exploring other mediums lately (like textile arts), but your videos and inspiration stay with me! I’m sure I’ll find my way back to painting soon—you always remind me what it means to live the artist’s life, no matter the medium. 😊 I especially love these Substack posts—thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us!

I use all types of brushes. I mostly paint with watercolors and I like a round with a nice point. But I have a favorite water brush that I use all the time. I have no idea where I got it or what brand it is. The bristles are getting worn down to that perfect spot. But one day I’ll have to replace it.

Thanks for sharing your brush info Sandi! I would like nothing more than to see a pair of googly eyes on those two mimik brushes - they remind me so much of Beaker from the Muppets!

Brushes are like students in a classroom. Each with their own personality and characteristics. As you get to know each one you find it's purpose and grow comfortable. Thank you Sandi for reminding me not to be offput by different types of brushes I'm not familiar with.

Sandi, I loved THIS!! And I'm not even an artist. But my Mom is. I think this one might be right up your alley... "Mom, who had just endured surgeries on both of her arms, refused to sit still. She taped paint brushes to each of her FEET — and was literally painting classics from the throes of her toes." https://thegoldenmean2040.substack.com/p/my-mother-the-author
